Oliver Claire (1853 - 1927)

Oliver Clare was a still life painter of fruit and flowers .
He was the son of George Clare and the brother of Vincent , both of whom painted still life subjects. The family lived and worked in Birmingham.

His paintings, demonstrated considerable skill in capturing the textures of fruits. Clares subjects are often set against mossy backgrounds producing a more informal composition than many of his contemporary artists.
