Gilbert Scott Wright. 1880-1958

Born in Leeds he was the younger brother of George Wright. He was a self taught artist, though no doubt he received advice from his elder brother.

Gilbert was an excellent draughtsman and as well as painting horses also painted figures very well. He particularly enjoyed painting hunting and racing scenes. During the 1930s his paintings were used by the Princess Royal for her Christmas Cards.

Gilbert worked closely with his sister Louise (a pioneer of fashion art), in fashion work and illustrated the Harrods's fur catalogue before the store turned to photography.

He exhibited at the Royal Academy London from 1909
