Oliver Clare was a still life painter of fruit and flowers.
He was the son of George Clare and the brother of Vincent , both of whom painted still life subjects. The family lived and worked in Birmingham.
The paintings of Oliver Clare demonstrate considerable skill in capturing the textures of fruits. Clare's subjects are often set against mossy backgrounds producing a more informal composition than many of his contemporary artists.
